    Св-во стали образовывать трещины при обработке давлением (ковка, штамповка, прокатка) при 850—1150 °С. К. с. обусловл. распред. нек-рых примесей (преимущ. Сu, S) по границам зерен. В поверхн. слое заготовки из стали с более 0,4-0,5 % Сu при выс. темп-рах иногда образуются местные скопления структурно-своб. Сu (tm в 1083 °С), в рез-те чего при гор. деформации стали могут возникнуть поверхн. надрывы и трещины. К. наблюдается т.ж. в стали с повыш. содерж. S и Мn. В этом случае S находится в стали не в виде сравнит. тугоплавкого MnS, а в виде FeS, к-рый образует с Fe легкоплавкую эвтектику (988 °С). Для ослабления вредного влияния и устранения к. с. в нее добавляют Al, Ti, Zr и др., образ. тугоплавкие сульфиды. Распред. Сu по границам зерен в нек-рой мере может быть предотвращено легиров. стали (Ni, Mo, В).
